Dear Prairie View family,
You may have heard about a law the Kansas Legislature recently passed that restricts the way that public restrooms can be used. Beginning today, these changes will also affect our school restrooms.
To summarize, the law just passed by the Kansas Legislature states that children and adults must only use the public restroom based on the sex they were assigned at birth. Children under the age of 9 may accompany a parent/guardian in the bathroom of that parent/guardian. The bill is SB244.
Nothing matters more than making sure every student we serve feel safe and valued at school. If you have questions or concerns about how this change affects your child at school, please contact your building administrator or district office without delay so that we can work together on solutions.
Thank you for your partnership, now and always.
Dr. Chris Johnson
