Parker: Four year Old Preschool

Parker preschool

We have been very busy these past few weeks!

In September we had a great time making scarecrows with our grandparents. The children enjoyed showing their grandparents around the room and I think everyone – kids, teachers and grandparents - had fun building the scarecrows. We had such a great turnout that we were able to build a Mr. and Mrs. Scarecrow. Grandparents had some great ideas for building and decorating. What a wonderful resource they are. The scarecrows turned out so great – I know the grandparents must have experience in this area! We took some great pictures.

During October we worked on the letters C, D, and E. We learned the name of the letter, how to write it, the sound the letter makes and some things that start with that letter. We ate cookies and carrots for C, doughnuts for D, and English muffins for E. We are planning on French toast (Mrs. Armstrong’s famous recipe) for F, grapes for G, honey for H. If you have ideas for snacks that start with any letter, feel free to send us your ideas.

Also during October, we learned about fire safety. We talked about the equipment that a fire fighter wears, how to stop, drop and roll and stay low under the smoke. We were very lucky to have the Parker firefighters visit us. They showed us the equipment they use, how they rescue people from inside houses, and they brought us all fire hats. In addition they brought two fire engines. The children were given a full tour, allowed to sit inside and most exciting of all each child was given the chance to shoot the grass fire water hose. They had so much fun! It sure pays to have firefighter dads in your room!

We had a fun time at our Halloween party. The costumes were great! We paraded in the gym and had some special treats in our room. The parents and grandparents were very generous with the treats they had for us. We had everything from bubbles to pencils to play dough. Wow! We also played a fun game. It was a great party! Thanks to all who sent things and to all who came to help – and an especially big thank you to Mrs. Baker for being the party chair mom.

During November we will be learning about the first Thanksgiving, Pilgrims, and Indians. We are sending home a turkey for you to decorate as a family and send back to school to display. Use things you have around the house – popcorn, cereal, material, paper, be creative! Be sure and put your child’s name on your family turkey so we can return them to you. Have fun!
