Mrs. Holt graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School in Jonesboro, Louisiana and did her first few years of undergraduate work at Louisiana Tech University. She later transferred to Pitt State University, in Pittsburg, Kansas and received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1976. She received her M.S. in Education in 1991 from PSU and has completed further graduate work at Emporia State University to become a certified Reading Recovery Teacher. Mrs. Holt taught first grade for twenty-three years and has served as the Reading Specialist in Parker Elementary for the last seven years.
