Lady Buffs win Mid-Season Basketball Tournament

The 2012 Mid-Season Tournament held at Pleasanton, Kansas turned out to be a week filled with success for the Lady Buffs varsity basketball team.

The buffalos started their week off matched up against Altoona-Midway. The girls jumped out strong in the first quarter and were leading with a score of 25-5. The game provided an opportunity for all members on the roster to see a lot of playing time, and found everyone putting points on the board. When the last buzzer rang the buffalos were victorious with a final score of 48-21.

The second round Thursday night was against Jayhawk-Linn. Once again the ladies got off to a strong start, leading 12-3 at the end of the first quarter, and never looking back. At the end of the 4th quarter, the lady buffalos found themselves advancing to the championship round, with a 40-28 victory of the Jayhawks.

When Saturday rolled around the Lady Buffs had the opportunity to meet Central Heights for the third time this season. The two previous match ups had ended in the only two losses the buffalos had experienced this season, and they were determined to make the third time a charm. The game was most definitely a game of defense, with the score at halftime being 12-19 in Central Heights' favor. When it was all said and done, the buffalos' hard work and determination paid off, and they brought home the championship trophy with a score of 33-31.
