Prairie View Strategic Plan
by Chris Kleidosty
The USD 362 Board of Education enlisted the help of it's service center, Greenbush, to to develop a strategic plan for Prairie View during the last part of 2008.
Dr. Chris Christman, professor at Pittsburg State University, facilitated the process. He interviewed various groups among the schools and community. He and his support staff also collected demographic information about the school and surrounding areas. The following booklet of information was produced: demographic data.
In November 2008, the board of education adopted the following goals for the district:
UTILIZE TECHNOLOGY AS A TOOL TO PROVIDE A RELEVANT EDUCATION FOR STUDENTS IN A CHANGING WORLD
RECRUIT AND RETAIN QUALITY PERSONNEL WITH COMPETITIVE SALARIES AND BENEFITS
SUPPORT AND IMPROVE A QUALITY SCHOOL SYSTEM THROUGH A FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE BUDGET CONSIDERATE OF ALL THE DISTRICT’S RESOURCES
CREATE A LONG TERM PLAN FOR FACILITY MAINTENANCE AND IMPROVEMENT
FACILITATE OPEN TWO-WAY COMUNICATION AT ALL LEVELS TO ENHANCE THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS AND ACHIEVEMENT OF DISTRICT GOALS
The next step of the process is to develop action plans specific to achieving each goal. The administration will come up with recommendations with input from other groups. Those action plans will then be presented to the board of education in the summer of 2009.
