Prairie View Middle School was recently notified to be a recipient of the Governor's Achievement Award, which is based upon building performance on the 2007 Kansas State Assessments. PVMS was 1 of only 12 middle schools qualifying in the state of Kansas.
The specific criteria for Governor's Achievement Award qualification includes:

2. The school must have met Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in both reading and mathematics as well as requirements for attendance.
3. The school must have been among schools in the top 5% in both reading and mathematics on the 2007 state assessments among other middle schools.
USD 362 Prairie View has received other recent recognitions for high test scores. Fontana Elementary was 1 of 44 elementary schools in the state of Kansas to achieve the Governor's Achievement Award. Earlier in 2007, USD 362 Prairie View ranked 22nd out of 296 schools in a school efficiency study conducted by Standard and Poor that accounted for a ratio of inputs (money spent) vs. outputs (scores achieved). This ratio accounts for all test scores in grades 3-12.
