USD 362 Graduation Requirements

A student shall be eligible for graduation from Prairie View High School upon successful completion of the sixteen required units plus elective courses totaling 22 units of credit until the graduation year of 2015 when the total units of credit increases to 24. The requirement of classes are as follows with electives making up the remainder of the units:

REQUIRED UNITS

Four units of English/Language Arts:

English 9...........1 unit
English 10 or Advanced English 10.........1unit
English 11 or Advanced English 11.........1 unit
English 12 or Advanced English 12 .........1 unit

Three units of Social Studies:

World History (9th grade)...... 1unit
American History (10th grade)......1 unit
US Government Economics (11th grade)......1 unit

Three units of Science :

Earth Space Science (9th) ……1 unit
Biology (10th)......1 unit
Other......1 unit

(pick from Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy & Physiology, Human Biology (.5), Environmental Science (.5), Forensic Science (.5), Organismal Biology (.5)

Three units of Mathematics (available classes listed below):

Pre-Algebra, Standards Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, (.5) Trigonometry (.5), and Calculus

Other Requirements:

One-half unit each of Business Essentials and Health - Freshman year

One-half unit each of Physical Education and Nutrition & Wellness - Sophomore year

One unit of a Fine Arts (Band, Choir, Music, Art, or Speech and Drama)
